Artemis Origination Marks First Year post-spin out with Promotions and Senior Appointment

Ben Robinson 04 July 2023

June 27th 2023 - Artemis Origination has announced annual promotions in the US and Europe and a senior appointment in the UK.

Following its spinout from a global M&A advisory firm in May 2022, Artemis Origination has experienced a year of consolidation and growth. The company's team has increased from 5 to 12 employees, alongside establishing headquarters in the UK and presence in the US and Europe. Notably, 60% of the company's revenue in its first year came from new clients acquired after the spinout.

CEO Paul Dondos attributes this growth to the relentless appetite for investment in IP-rich companies operating at the innovation frontier. Acquirers and investors need specialist insight and support to win. He also highlights the rapid development of the company's talent, technology, and value proposition as significant factors:
"The technology and professional services sectors continue to attract substantial interest in M&A. However, the market is already saturated with specialists running deal processes, making it challenging even to define this as a niche, so we started Artemis with a different proposition in mind.

“We are M&A originators. We guide counterparties past the risk and opacity in these sectors to the smartest deals. We do this by curating comprehensive and specialized high-value data and relationships in the most complex and competitive areas of the global economy. For buyers and investors, this means insights into target companies, their business mix, their commercial and delivery models, their clients, client entry points, equity stories, the direction of travel of their founders, and so on. For founders and shareholders, it is an understanding of the buyer landscape, where the founder’s firm is positioned, and needs to get to, on the curve to value creation and realization. We guide counterparties towards smart deals by leveraging our data, talent and relationships.

Dora Ruzic, one of the original team members, has been promoted to Director in the US. Ruzic, a former sell-side investment banker at JP Morgan with experience on the buyside at Neuberger Berman, holds dual European and US citizenship and is currently pursuing a doctorate at Harvard. CEO Paul Dondos remarks, "Dora's professionalism and extensive financial and commercial acumen, along with her well-rounded expertise, is highly valued by us and our clients."

In Europe, Cristina Carofiglio has been promoted to Vice President. Carofiglio, who joined Artemis after nine years at Razorhorse, a North American technology buyside advisor, brings a wealth of experience in serving top-tier private equity firms in technology M&A origination. Dondos adds, "Cristina's skill at navigating the intricacies of technology M&A origination, particularly with tier 1 PEs, has positioned her well to excel in her role."

Joining the team in London is Ben Robinson, who assumes the role of Marketing Director. Robinson brings extensive experience from the financial services industry at iSAM and Finalto, as well as from the digital and professional services sectors with Zellis (backed by Bain Capital) and Robert Walters. Dondos expresses excitement about this new chapter, stating, "We are thrilled about the prospects that lie ahead, and you can expect to hear more from Ben in the coming months!"

Artemis Origination is proud to mark its first year of operation as a fully independent outfit with these advancements and remains committed to providing exceptional origination services to its clients in the technology and professional services sectors.
